Proper 9 (Fifth Sunday after Trinity)

Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be always acceptable unto you, O Lord,
my rock and my redeemer.

(Psalm 19:14, NRSV, alt.)

Invitatory

Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!
Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he,
humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope;
today I declare that I will restore to you double.

(Zechariah 9:9, 12, NRSV.)

Cruciform

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light.

(Matthew 11:29-30, NRSV.)

Weeks

Come unto me, all you who travail
and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.

(Matthew 11:28, AV & NRSV.)

Dimissory

Let your way be known upon earth;
your saving health among all nations.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Create in us clean hearts, O God;
and sustain us with your Holy Spirit.

(BCP 1979.)

One response to “Proper 9 (Fifth Sunday after Trinity)”

  1. Thank you Father Will and for todays service, it resonated deeply within me and helped me to understand, that I am human and that even though I know what is right I often do what is not. Something that I need to work on.
    Thank you
