The Transfiguration

Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

I saw a human being
coming with the clouds of heaven.
He came to the Ancient One
and was presented before him.
To him was given dominion and glory and kingship,
that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him.
His dominion is everlasting
and shall not pass away.
His kingship is one
that shall never be destroyed.

(Daniel 7:13-14, NRSV, alt.)

Invitatory

The Lord is king! Let the earth rejoice;
let the many coastlands be glad!
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples behold his glory.
Light dawns for the righteous
and joy for the upright in heart.Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name!

(Psalm 97:1, 6, 11-12, NRSV.)

Cruciform

Christ received honour and glory when the Father’s voice said,
“This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”
We ourselves heard this voice from heaven,
while we were with him on the holy mountain.

(2 Peter 1:17-18, NRSV, alt.)

Weeks

From the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!”

(Luke 9:35, NRSV.)

Dimissory

O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessèd,
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light
we sing your praises, O God:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.

(Phos hilaron, BCP 1979.)

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
