1st of Advent

Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I am the voice that cries out in the wilderness,
“Prepare ye the way of the Lord!
Make straight his paths:
a highway for our God!”
— John 1:23†; Isaiah 40:†

Invitatory

O Lord, show us your mercy;
and grant us your salvation.
Clothe your ministers with righteousness;
Let your people sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
for only in you can we dwell in safety.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
and guide us in the way of justice and truth.
Let your way be known upon earth;
your saving health among all nations.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Create in us clean hearts, O God;
and sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
— BCP 1979†

Cruciform

From the fig tree, learn this lesson:
when the branch becomes tender,
and it produces its leaves,
you know that the summer is near.
But of that day or that hour
no one knows,
not even the angels in heaven,
nor the Son,
but only the Father.
Watch, keep alert, and pray;
for you do not know the time.
— Mark 13:28, 32-33†

Weeks

Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.
— Mark 13:31

Following the seventh bead:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Dimissory

Christ confirms you to the end,
blameless on the day of his coming.
God is faithful,
through whom you were called into fellowship.
— 1 Corinthians 8-9†

Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth, as it is in heaven.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
