4th of Lent: Laetere

Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
— from BCP 1979

Invitatory

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his loving kindness endures forever.
Let those redeemed by the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
and gathered out of the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
Let them praise the Lord for his loving kindness,
for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!
For he satisfies the longing soul.
He fills the hungry soul with good.
— Psalm 107:1-3, 8-9†

Cruciform

You were made alive
when you were dead in transgression.
God, being rich in mercy,
for his great love,
made us alive with Christ.
By grace you have been saved
and raised with him,
to sit in the heavenly places.
— Ephesians 2:2, 4-6†

Weeks

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
for God sent not his Son to condemn the world,
but that through him the world might be saved.
— John 3:14, 17†

Following the seventh bead:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Dimissory

O God,
you have made of one blood
all the peoples of the earth,
and sent your blessed Son
to preach peace
to those who are far off
and to those who are near:
Grant that people everywhere
may seek after you and find you;
bring the nations into your fold;
pour out your Spirit upon all flesh;
and hasten the coming of your kingdom;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
— A Collect from Morning Prayer, Rite II, from BCP 1979
