{"id":4124,"date":"2025-03-10T12:25:40","date_gmt":"2025-03-10T12:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicanrosary.org\/?p=4124"},"modified":"2025-03-10T12:25:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-10T12:25:42","slug":"1st-of-lent-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anglicanrosary.org\/en\/2025\/03\/10\/1st-of-lent-c\/","title":{"rendered":"1st of Lent"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Cross<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. <strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most merciful God,&nbsp;<br><strong>We confess that we have sinned against you<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>in thought, word, and deed,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>by what we have done,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>and by what we have left undone.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>We have not loved you with our whole heart;<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>have mercy on us and forgive us;<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>that we may delight in your will,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>and walk in your ways,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>to the glory of your name. Amen.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><em>\u2014 Morning Prayer II &amp; Evening Prayer II<\/em>\u25ca<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May almighty God have mercy on us,&nbsp;<br>forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ,&nbsp;<br>strengthen us in all goodness,&nbsp;<br>and by the power of the Holy Spirit&nbsp;<br>keep us in eternal life. <strong>Amen.<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Morning Prayer II &amp; Evening Prayer II<\/em>\u25ca\u2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Invitatory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;If&nbsp;you&nbsp;will&nbsp;confess with&nbsp;your&nbsp;mouth&nbsp;that&nbsp;Jesus&nbsp;is&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<strong>and&nbsp;believe&nbsp;in&nbsp;your&nbsp;heart&nbsp;that&nbsp;God&nbsp;raised him&nbsp;from&nbsp;the&nbsp;dead,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;you&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;saved.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<strong>For&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;heart&nbsp;one&nbsp;believes, resulting&nbsp;in&nbsp;righteousness;<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;and&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;mouth&nbsp;confession&nbsp;is&nbsp;made,&nbsp;resulting&nbsp;in salvation.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<strong>For&nbsp;the&nbsp;scripture&nbsp;says,<\/strong><br>&nbsp;<strong>\u201cWhoever&nbsp;believes&nbsp;in&nbsp;him&nbsp;will&nbsp;not&nbsp;be disappointed.\u201d<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Romans 10:9-11<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cruciform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days,<br>being tempted by the devil.<br><strong>He ate nothing in those days,<\/strong><br><strong>and afterward, he was hungry.<\/strong><br>The devil said to him, \u201cIf you are the Son of God,<br><strong>command this stone to become bread.\u201d<\/strong><br>Jesus answered him saying, \u201cIt is written,<br>\u2018You shall not live by bread alone,<br><strong>but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Luke 4:1-4, Matthew 4:4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You shall worship the Lord your God,<br><strong>and you shall serve him only.<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Luke 4:8<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Following the seventh bead:<\/em><br>Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,&nbsp;<br>and to the Holy Spirit.<br><strong>As it was in the beginning, is now,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br><strong>and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dimissory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&nbsp;who&nbsp;dwells&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;secret&nbsp;place&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Most&nbsp;High<br><strong>will&nbsp;rest&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;shadow&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Almighty.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>I&nbsp;will&nbsp;say&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Lord, \u201cHe&nbsp;is&nbsp;my&nbsp;refuge&nbsp;and&nbsp;my&nbsp;fortress;&nbsp;<br><strong>my&nbsp;God,&nbsp;in&nbsp;whom&nbsp;I&nbsp;trust.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Because&nbsp;you&nbsp;have&nbsp;made&nbsp;the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;your&nbsp;refuge,&nbsp;<br><strong>and&nbsp;the&nbsp;Most&nbsp;High&nbsp;your&nbsp;dwelling&nbsp;place,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>no&nbsp;evil&nbsp;shall&nbsp;happen&nbsp;to&nbsp;you,&nbsp;<br><strong>neither&nbsp;shall&nbsp;any&nbsp;plague&nbsp;come&nbsp;near&nbsp;your&nbsp;dwelling.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>For&nbsp;he&nbsp;will&nbsp;put&nbsp;his&nbsp;angels&nbsp;in&nbsp;charge&nbsp;of&nbsp;you,&nbsp;<br><strong>to&nbsp;guard&nbsp;you&nbsp;in&nbsp;all&nbsp;your&nbsp;ways.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>They&nbsp;will&nbsp;bear&nbsp;you&nbsp;up&nbsp;in&nbsp;their&nbsp;hands,&nbsp;<br><strong>so&nbsp;that&nbsp;you&nbsp;will not&nbsp;dash&nbsp;your&nbsp;foot&nbsp;against&nbsp;a&nbsp;stone.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>You&nbsp;will&nbsp;tread&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;lion&nbsp;and&nbsp;cobra.&nbsp;<br><strong>You&nbsp;will&nbsp;trample&nbsp;the&nbsp;young&nbsp;lion&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;serpent&nbsp;underfoot.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>\u201cBecause&nbsp;he&nbsp;has&nbsp;set&nbsp;his&nbsp;love&nbsp;on&nbsp;me,&nbsp;therefore&nbsp;I&nbsp;will&nbsp;deliver&nbsp;him.&nbsp;<br><strong>I&nbsp;will&nbsp;set&nbsp;him&nbsp;on&nbsp;high,&nbsp;because&nbsp;he&nbsp;has&nbsp;known&nbsp;my&nbsp;name.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>He&nbsp;will&nbsp;call&nbsp;on&nbsp;me,&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;will&nbsp;answer&nbsp;him.&nbsp;<br><strong>I&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;with&nbsp;him&nbsp;in&nbsp;trouble.<\/strong><br>I&nbsp;will&nbsp;deliver&nbsp;him,&nbsp;and&nbsp;honour&nbsp;him.<br><strong>I&nbsp;will&nbsp;satisfy&nbsp;him&nbsp;with&nbsp;long&nbsp;life,&nbsp;and&nbsp;show&nbsp;him&nbsp;my&nbsp;salvation.\u201d<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. <strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
