In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blow the trumpet in Zion,
and sound an alarm in my holy mountain!<\/strong>
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,
for the day of the Lord comes,
for it is close at hand:<\/strong>
a day of darkness and gloom,
a day of clouds and thick darkness.<\/strong>
\u201cYet even now,\u201d says the Lord, \u201cturn to me with all your heart,
and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.\u201d<\/strong>
Tear your heart, and not your garments,
and turn to the Lord, your God;<\/strong>
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.<\/strong>
Blow the trumpet in Zion!
Sanctify a fast.<\/strong>
Call a solemn assembly.
Gather the people.<\/strong>
Sanctify the assembly.
Assemble the elders.<\/strong>
Let the priests \u2026 weep between the porch and the altar,
and let them say, \u201cSpare your people, O Lord.\u201d<\/strong>

Invitatory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have mercy on me, God,
according to your loving kindness.<\/strong>
According to the multitude of your tender mercies,
blot out my transgressions.<\/strong>
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity.
Cleanse me from my sin.<\/strong>
For I know my transgressions.
My sin is constantly before me.<\/strong>
Against you, and you only, I have sinned,
and done what is evil in your sight,<\/strong>
so you may be proved right when you speak,
and justified when you judge.<\/strong>
Behold, I was born in iniquity.
My mother conceived me in sin.<\/strong>
Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts.
You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.<\/strong>
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean.
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.<\/strong>
Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Cruciform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you pray, do not be as the hypocrites,
for they love to stand and pray and be seen.
Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.<\/strong>
When you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with sad faces.
For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen.
Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.<\/strong>
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you are not seen by men.
And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.<\/strong>

Dimissory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you<\/strong>
in thought, word, and deed,<\/strong>
by what we have done,<\/strong>
and by what we have left undone.<\/strong>
We have not loved you with our whole heart;<\/strong>
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.<\/strong>
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.<\/strong>
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,<\/strong>
have mercy on us and forgive us;<\/strong>
that we may delight in your will,<\/strong>
and walk in your ways,<\/strong>
to the glory of your Name. Amen.<\/strong>
