{"id":4116,"date":"2025-03-05T08:52:25","date_gmt":"2025-03-05T08:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicanrosary.org\/?p=4116"},"modified":"2025-03-09T08:42:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T08:42:44","slug":"ash-wednesday-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anglicanrosary.org\/es\/2025\/03\/05\/ash-wednesday-c\/","title":{"rendered":"Ash Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cross<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. <strong>Amen.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blow the trumpet in Zion,<br><strong>and sound an alarm in my holy mountain!<\/strong><br>Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,<br>for the day of the Lord comes,<br><strong>for it is close at hand:<\/strong><br>a day of darkness and gloom,<br><strong>a day of clouds and thick darkness.<\/strong><br>\u201cYet even now,\u201d says the Lord, \u201cturn to me with all your heart,<br><strong>and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.\u201d<\/strong><br>Tear your heart, and not your garments,<br><strong>and turn to the Lord, your God;<\/strong><br>for he is gracious and merciful,<br><strong>slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.<\/strong><br>Blow the trumpet in Zion!<br><strong>Sanctify a fast.<\/strong><br>Call a solemn assembly.<br><strong>Gather the people.<\/strong><br>Sanctify the assembly.<br><strong>Assemble the elders.<\/strong><br>Let the priests \u2026 weep between the porch and the altar,<br><strong>and let them say, \u201cSpare your people, O Lord.\u201d<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Joel 2:1-2a, 12-13a, 15-16a, 17a\u2020&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Invitatory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have mercy on me, God,<br><strong>according to your loving kindness.<\/strong><br>According to the multitude of your tender mercies,<br><strong>blot out my transgressions.<\/strong><br>Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity.<br><strong>Cleanse me from my sin.<\/strong><br>For I know my transgressions.<br><strong>My sin is constantly before me.<\/strong><br>Against you, and you only, I have sinned,<br><strong>and done what is evil in your sight,<\/strong><br>so you may be proved right when you speak,<br><strong>and justified when you judge.<\/strong><br>Behold, I was born in iniquity.<br><strong>My mother conceived me in sin.<\/strong><br>Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts.<br><strong>You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.<\/strong><br>Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean.<br><strong>Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.<\/strong><br>Create in me a clean heart, O God.<br><strong>Renew a right spirit within me.<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Psalm 51:1-7, 10<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cruciform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you pray, do not be as the hypocrites,<br>for they love to stand and pray and be seen.<br><strong>Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.<\/strong><br>When you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with sad faces.<br>For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen.<br><strong>Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.<\/strong><br>But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,<br>so that you are not seen by men.<br><strong>And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Matthew 6:5, 16-18\u2020<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At an acceptable time I listened to you.<br><strong>In a day of salvation I helped you.<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 2 Corinthians 6:2<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Following the seventh bead:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit<br><strong>as it was in the beginning, is now,<\/strong><br><strong>and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dimissory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most merciful God,<br><strong>we confess that we have sinned against you<\/strong><br><strong>in thought, word, and deed,<\/strong><br><strong>by what we have done,<\/strong><br><strong>and by what we have left undone.<\/strong><br><strong>We have not loved you with our whole heart;<\/strong><br><strong>we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.<\/strong><br><strong>We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.<\/strong><br><strong>For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,<\/strong><br><strong>have mercy on us and forgive us;<\/strong><br><strong>that we may delight in your will,<\/strong><br><strong>and walk in your ways,<\/strong><br><strong>to the glory of your Name. Amen.<\/strong><br><em><em>\u2014 Morning Prayer II &amp; Evening Prayer II<\/em>\u25ca<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If a priest is present, s\/he may offer the absolution.
